Look folks, you can put quotes 'round those footnotes.
1st. Thank you for doing this. 2nd. It's amazing to see FearinJah listed here. 3rd. To see our stuff come after is a deep honor. 4th. To be on the same comp as our lineage ie. BasBombin is an incredible close of a chapter. Appreciate the effort you put into ALL these mixes.
ReplyDeleteJust seein' this now, somehow. Thank you for checkin' it. We're gettin' the whole Kemetic Suns crew up here!
DeleteOh yeah, props to the whole No Concept clique for sure.
The internet doesn't seem to know much of anything about BasBombin. So if you wanna shed any insight, that'd be great. Like, even just where they were from?
Appreciate you taking the time to say something. These kinda comments keep me goin'.
BasBombing was/is H Bomb and Bas-1. H Bomb was originally from Ohio and moved to California. Bas-1 is from Oakland. The group was part of a larger collective called the Justice League (not to be confused with the North Carolina movement of the early 2000s). The Justice League (1988 - 1992) was made up of members such as Bas Bombing, Defari, Benni B, Superstar Quam Allah. Many of these individuals taught at Berkeley High and became the instructors for Berkeley and Oakland influencers such as the Master Builders, Black Stone Rangers and Cytoplasmz. The last members to go through this program was FundaMentals which was a part of Kemetic Suns. I'll post some bread crumbs below....
ReplyDeleteThank you! I knew Bas-1 was involved, but nothing about H Bomb or where he was from. I guess the fact that y'all ended up on the same volume was part serendipity and part... it just soundin' right together.
DeleteAnd shoutouts to Cytoplasmz.
I somehow missed this article when it first appeared on Cocaine Blunts, but just caught up on all five parts. Thanks for schoolin' me, that filled in some gaps I had.
